RBC Lysis Buffer

Red cell lysis buffer is a simple and convenient reagent for selectively removing red blood cells. By lysing red cells with this buffer, nucleated cells remain undamaged while red blood cells are thoroughly eliminated. The mechanism works by exploiting the concentration gradient of salt ions across the cell membrane, causing the membrane to swell and ultimately rupture, thus lysing anucleate red blood cells. This product has been sterilized and is primarily used to remove red blood cells from tissue suspensions.
